so i was a little suprised when i was talking with a friend and i was saying how fabulous etsy was and they didn't now what i was talking about! i thought everyone knew about etsy........... so here's my shout out...

etsy is like shopping on whyte ave... on your computer... in your pajama's... while you are supposed to be doing housework. seriously.

almost everthing can be personalized. so it's completely yours! although retro glam seems to dominate the site, there is something for every kind of wedding... from 'geekery' to vintage, from gothic to fairy tale and from classic to modern. all of the bases are covered.

The One Thing Series...

....Reception: White Twinkle Lights....

So I have decided to start a series of posts dedicated to the 'one thing' that can transform an aspect of a wedding...



Whether it's inside a golf course, under a big tent, or at a local watering hole, white Christmas lights can transform the atmosphere of a wedding. They are fab for covering up dated oaky pillars, damaged bars and replacing candles (since apparently there are these things called 'fire regulations').

I'm talking the ones from the 90s that you can find anywhere now and are soooo much cheaper than they used to be... not these bright bluish-white led guys. You know, those teenie weenie Christmas lights that are probably in a mangled mess in a random box in your mom's basement....

FYI, not only are they totally magic but they are an insanely inexpensive if you can say pretty please ;)

This is it!!

So this is it! My first blog post.... Eek! I never thought I would be a 'blogger', yet here I am.

It has been a crazy couple weeks. Not only am I trying to get in the 'blogging' mindset but I'm preparing for my first bridal show and finalizing design details for my website. All of this while I'm trying to keep my sanity!! I guess I can say goodbye to my boring days of watching tv... ok, let's be honest - I don't think I can give up my addiction of trashy shows.... I suppose I will have to compromise sleep for my love of everything wedding and mindless tv.

Since this little post is my first, let's start with a little about me...

I believe in love at first sight and married my first love.
My day starts after pressing snooze once, two cups of coffee and a shameful amount of emailing.
I don't care where my coffee (morning or otherwise) comes from.... Tim Horton's, Starbucks, Mac's or a dingy truck stop.
My favorite color changes all the time... today and yesterday was plum but before that it was olive and last summer it was hot pink.
My daughter's name is Lennox and until recently she was constantly mistaken for a boy... it probably didn't help that we nicknamed her Leonard.
I graduated from University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English but I might be the worst speller that has ever existed!
I am not ashamed to say that I have an addiction to television. I don't discriminate against any genre... sometimes the more mindless, the better.
Recently my new addictions are Super Mario Brothers and creepin' on blogs....is it creepin' if they're really online for everyone to read??
I love everything 'wedding'... the flowers, the photography (soooo many amazing photographers in Alberta!), the cake, the bride walking down the aisle, the groom's eyes when he sees his bride for the first time, their first dance....I could go on, and on and on.

Based out of Edmonton, Alberta, I have officially launched Flair Occasions as Edmonton's newest wedding planning company. Our approach is fun, refreshing and honest.
